The calendar is turning to June, so now feels like a good time to check in on the updated MLB MVP odds. Shohei Ohtani, the two-way superstar who won the AL MVP Award unanimously in 2021, is off to a strong start and is the early favorite to repeat as the league’s most valuable player. Aaron Judge leads the league in home runs and is off to a strong start of his own, but he trails Ohtani at every major sportsbook. In the National League, Manny Machado got out to an early lead but has been surpassed as the favorite for NL MVP by Mookie Betts in recent weeks.
Now that we’re two months in, let’s take a look at the current 2022 MLB MVP Odds across the various sportsbooks.
What are Player Futures?
Player futures refer to any player-based wager for a future event or a result. These bets often do not pay out until weeks or even months from when they are originally placed. Most player futures are built around a specific statistic, where bettors determine whether that player will come in above or below the oddsmakers’ total. They often open with odds at -110 but are adjusted based on where the majority of bets are placed.
