Top NHL Prop Bets for Monday, May 2 (2022)

With a four-game slate, Monday night, the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs get underway. Not only does Monday provide some great matchups, but there are some excellent prop betting opportunities as well. Below, I give out my three best NHL play props for Monday.

Nikita Kucherov Anytime Scorer (+175)

Game 1 begins between two Atlantic Division teams as the three-seed Tampa Bay Lightning takes on the two-seed Toronto Maple Leafs. Just because it is the playoffs does not mean I will go away from my favorite bet to make every single time the Lightning play.

Kucherov has been a cash machine for us over the past month as he has scored 14 goals over his last 15 games. Going against Toronto, Kucherov should have an excellent opportunity for a big series as the Maple Leafs bleed goals.

In both of his games against Toronto this season, Kucherov has been able to find the back of the net. This should not be surprising as the Maple Leafs rank just 19th in the league this season in goals allowed per game.

David Pastrnak Anytime Scorer (+125)

I expect the stars to really impact the first day of the playoffs, so it makes sense that Pastrnak should find the back of the net at least once. The Boston Bruins secured the first wild card spot and will take on the Metropolitan Division champions in the Carolina Hurricanes.

Due to the injury to starting goaltender Frederik Andersen, the Hurricanes are projected to roll with backup goaltender Antti Raanta. Raanta has had a tough time filling in for Andersen as he posted a 0.895 save percentage over seven appearances between the pipes in April.

Pastrnak was outstanding last year in the playoffs as he registered seven goals in 11 games. This season, Boston’s leading goal scorer should have no problem again, especially against a backup goaltender who has looked shaky recently.

Anze Kopitar Over 0.5 Assists (+130)

We have a Pacific Division showdown in this series as the three-seed Los Angeles Kings take on the two-seed Edmonton Oilers. I like Kopitar to collect at least one assist in this game against a defensively weak Oilers team, playing alongside wingers Andreas Athanasiou and Adrian Kempe while also centering the first power-play unit.

This season, Edmonton ranks just 23rd in the league in five-on-five expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA). Kopitar has recently stuffed the stat sheet as he has notched eight assists over his final 11 games of the regular season.

Over his last 35 playoff games, Kopitar has racked up 24 assists. Los Angles’ captain has been “ol’ reliable” for them over his career, and I do not expect this playoff series to be any different.

Best of luck!
