We have a full day of MLB action with five day games on Wednesday’s slate. Let’s break down my top three player props for today’s action.
MacKenzie Gore Y/N to record a win
The highly touted left-hander was solid in his major league debut against the defending champion Braves, allowing two runs on just three hits over 5.1 innings. Gore will face a much less formidable Reds lineup on Wednesday afternoon. Cincinnati is second to last in MLB in batting average, hitting just .178. The Reds also rank 27th in the league in runs per game with just 3.08. They have averaged less than 1.5 runs per game over their last five.
Vladimir Gutierrez is the Reds’ starting pitcher on Wednesday. He is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA and has already allowed 11 hits and five walks in just 8.1 innings.
The Reds have dropped their last eight games and have the worst record in baseball at 2-10. They’ll be at a disadvantage yet again in Wednesday’s pitching matchup. I’ll gladly take San Diego’s rookie phenom to record a win against this awful Reds lineup and ball club. I’ll take the +150 odds too.
Bet: MacKenzie Gore to record a win (+150 at DraftKings)
Luis Severino O/U 5.5 strikeouts
The Yankees right-hander is off to a nice start to his season with a 2.25 ERA and 11 strikeouts over eight innings. Severino is a guy that comes to mind you talk about the game’s strikeout pitchers. Severino has fanned 608 hitters in his career over 544 innings.
The Tigers’ offense has struggled mightily to start the 2022 campaign. Detroit is 28th in MLB in both runs per game (3.0) and batting average (.196). They also rank 22nd in the league in strikeouts per game (9.2).
Severino posted two solid outings already against much better lineups (than Detriot) against Boston and Toronto. I expect him to go five or six innings minimum in this one and to have his way with a lowly Tigers lineup. Severino will usually strike out more hitters than innings pitched. I’ll take him to strike out at least six Tigers on Wednesday at basically even odds.
Bet: Luis Severino Over 5.5 strikeouts (-105 at DraftKings)
Francisco Lindor O/U 0.5 total bases
The Mets’ star shortstop has been one of baseball’s best hitters through the season’s first couple of weeks. Lindor is slashing .310/.442/.619 and has reached base in each of his first 12 games. He is tied for 7th in MLB with 26 total bases. Lindor has fared very well historically against San Francisco’s starter Carlos Rodon. Lindor is 10 for 32 (.313) lifetime versus Rodon with five extra-base hits. All signs point to Lindor’s on-base streak continuing in this contest. I’m comfortable taking the -160 odds here.
Bet: Francisco Lindor Over 0.5 total bases (-160 at DraftKings)
