We have a busy Monday in MLB with 11 games on tap. Here is a trio of player props I’m taking to kick off this week’s action.
Francisco Lindor O/U 0.5 total bases
The Mets shortstop is off to a much better start in 2022. Lindor is slashing .273/442/.606 and is tied for second in MLB in runs scored with nine. He has also reached base in all ten of his games this season. Lindor went three for nine with four walks and two homers in the weekend series against the D-Backs. He is three for eight (.375) lifetime against Alex Cobb, who starts for the Giants against the Mets on Monday. I do not see the red-hot Lindor’s on-base streak ending just yet.
Bet: Francisco Lindor Over 0.5 total bases (-160 at DraftKings)
Sean Manaea Y/N to record a win
The newest Padres starter posted two strong outings to start the season and has a 1.38 ERA and a 0.54 WHIP (2nd in MLB). Manaea faces a Cincinnati offense on Monday that is currently last in MLB in on-base percentage (.256) and second-to-last in batting average (.185). The Reds are averaging just two runs per game over their last five.
The Reds sit at 2-8 and have the worst record in baseball. Rookie Nick Lodolo will make his second career start for Cincinnati. He was knocked around in his debut outing by Cleveland as he surrendered five runs, seven hits, two homers, and three walks over four innings.
All signs point to San Diego coming out on top in this matchup. Cincinnati stinks, especially at the plate, and the Padres have a massive advantage in the starting pitching matchup with Manaea on the mound. The Padres are home as well. I expect Manaea to turn in his third quality start of the season and secure his second career win with San Diego.
Bet: Sean Manaea to record a win (+115 at DraftKings)
Clayton Kershaw Y/N to record a win
If you are reading this, you have likely heard about the Dodgers pulling Kershaw through seven perfect innings after just 80 pitches in his first start of the season in Minnesota. If I were Kershaw, I would have needed to be physically stopped from going back out for the eighth inning. Regardless, the future Hall-of-Famer looked as dominant as ever, striking out 13 Minnesota hitters.
The defending World Series champion Braves are off to a sluggish start, sitting at 5-6 on the young season. The Atlanta offense has struggled as of late, scoring more than one run in just two of their last five games. Huascar Ynoa is Monday’s starting pitcher for the Braves. Ynoa had a brutal outing against a lackluster Nationals lineup in his first start of the 2022 season. He allowed five runs on seven hits and got yanked after three innings.
I think the Dodgers may very well cruise to a victory on Monday night with Kershaw on the bump. They will look to take advantage of an Atlanta starter reeling off of a poor first outing. Kershaw should be able to continue his early 2022 success against a Braves lineup that has struggled to put runs on the board. I’m confident that Kershaw starts the year off 2-0.
Bet: Clayton Kershaw to record a win (+120 at DraftKings)
