Top MLB Player Prop Odds & Picks for Saturday, April 30 (2022)

Friday was another eventful day in Major League Baseball, with the lead story being the Mets pitching staff combining to throw a no-hitter against the Phillies. The Astros won an 11-7 slugfest against the Blue Jays, while the Twins had their seven-game win streak snapped by the Rays. It’s another stacked slate of baseball today, so let’s check out my top three player props so we can have some action this afternoon!

Miles Mikolas O/U 17.5 Outs Recorded

The Diamondbacks and Cardinals split the first two games of the four-game set in St. Louis. The Red Birds will look to bounce back from yesterday’s loss as they send Miles Mikolas to the bump. As for the Snakes, they’ll opt for Merrill Kelly in this matchup scheduled for 2:15 ET.

Right-handed Mikolas has been untouchable over his last three outings. He has thrown two straight outings without giving up a run and has only surrendered one earned run over his last 18.2 innings. Most recently, the 33-year-old veteran stifled the Mets over 7.0 innings of work and allowed just four hits and a walk.

The Diamondbacks are the worst offensive team in the league this season. They have the league’s lowest team batting average (.183) and the second-lowest team OPS (.588). There is a limited sample size of head-to-head statistics with only three Dbacks’ players facing Mikolas, but they’re just 1-8 with two strikeouts. Mikolas is in top form to start the season, and he’s getting a favorable matchup against a terrible offensive team. There’s no reason he shouldn’t work through the 6th inning and record at least 18 outs in this game.

Bet: Miles Mikolas Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-160 via DraftKings)

Tim Anderson O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The White Sox continue to slide as they’ve now lost ten of their last 11 games. As for the Angels, they’ve rattled off six straight wins and sit atop the A.L. West heading into today’s game. This American League showdown is set for 4:05 ET with a pitching matchup of Jose Suarez vs. Vince Velasquez.

Suarez has made three starts this season, all lasting exactly 4.1 innings. He recently surrendered three runs on four hits and two walks to the Orioles over 4.1 innings of work. The left-hander has a 5.54 ERA to begin the year with a WHIP of 1.54.

The White Sox have crushed left-handed pitching over the past three seasons. Even with all of Chicago’s injuries to begin the new campaign, they still rank sixth in the league in team batting average against LHP at .258, and they boast the eighth highest OPS at .756. One of the main reasons for the damage to lefties is Tim Anderson. The star shortstop is 6-11 (.545) against lefties in 2022, with a home run and two doubles. Additionally, he has faced Suarez twice and has a single and a walk. With Anderson being at the top of the lineup and batting an overall .302 out of the gate, look for him to quickly clear two total bases tonight.

Bet: Tim Anderson Over 1.5 Total Bases (-125 via DraftKings)

Gio Urshela O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Twins had their seven-game win streak snapped yesterday in Tampa Bay. They’ll look to start a new streak tonight as they send former Ray, Chris Archer to the bump. As for the Rays, they’ll go with Shane McClanahan in this game set for a 7:10 ET first pitch.

McClanahan is a left-hander who’s off to a 1-1 start over four starts in 2022. The 25-year-old Floridian has a 2.45 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 31 strikeouts. He’s coming off of a great outing against the Red Sox, where he limited them to two earned runs on six hits and no walks over 7.0 innings of work.

In his young career, McClanahan has faced the current Twins’ lineup in 20 at-bats. Minnesota is 7-20 against him, with Gio Urshela going 3-6 with a home run and two doubles. Urshela is batting .304 this season with one home run and five RBIs. He also has three multi-hit games over his last five games played. Urshela sees his batting average rise to .370 against lefties this year (10-27), and he recorded his only long ball against LHP. Even though McClanahan is in pretty good form, I like the plus-money payout with Urshela to record at least two total bases.

Bet: Gio Urshela Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145 via DraftKings)
