26 Major League Baseball teams take the field tonight with action getting underway as early as 12:35 ET, where the Brewers look to complete the sweep over the Pirates. Games run through 7:45 ET tonight with the Diamondbacks opening up a four-game series with the Cardinals in St. Louis. St. Louis is fresh off of a win yesterday, but the biggest news in the game was a bench clearing skirmish with the Mets in the 8th.
Here are my top three player props that I’ll be locking in for today’s MLB slate:
Odds courtesy of DraftKings
Bryan Reynolds O/U 0.5 Total Bases
The Pirates are trying to salvage a game in the series finale while the Brewers are looking for their third straight win and fifth in six tries. First pitch is scheduled for 12:35 ET from PNC Park with a pitching matchup of Freddy Peralta vs. Jose Quintana.
Right-handed Peralta is 0-1 for the Crew to start the year with a 7.50 ERA and 1.75 WHIP. Peralta has made three starts in 2022, most recently a bounce back outing where he went 5.0 innings and allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks against the Phillies. He has faced the current Pirates roster over 29 at-bats and has limited them to a .209/.245/.242 slash line.
The Pirates have collected 10 hits against Peralta, with six of those hits belonging to Bryan Reynolds. The switch hitting outfielder is 6-13 against Peralta with a double and a triple. He’s hitting just .194 on the season, but sees his average rise to .304 when playing at home. I like Reynolds to record at least one total base in this afternoon’s matchup with Milwaukee.
Bet: Bryan Reynolds Over 0.5 Total Bases (-175 via DraftKings)
Aaron Judge O/U 1.5 Total Bases (+115 via DraftKings)
The Yankees are looking for their sixth straight win this afternoon while the Orioles will be looking to avoid their fourth straight loss. This one is scheduled to start at 1:05 ET from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Bruce Zimmerman takes the mound for the O’s while the Yankees counter with Jameson Taillon. It’s worth mentioning that Giancarlo Stanton hit his 350th career home run in yesterday’s win, becoming the seventh quickest player to reach the milestone.
Zimmerman has been off to a great start in the 2022 campaign, owning a 1-0 record through three starts with a 1.20 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. The left-hander faced the Angels last time out, limiting them to two earned runs over 6.0 innings of work on five hits and a walk. He has faced New York in one start this year, yielding no runs on four hits and two walks.
Aaron Judge is hitting .288 on the season with four home runs and six RBI’s over 66 at-bats. He’s riding a three-game hit streak where he has recorded at least two total bases in all three games. As for head-to-head statistics, Judge has faced Zimmerman in six at-bats, collecting hits in three of the AB’s, including two solo home runs. The star outfielder is 4-15 against lefties this season with two home runs and two doubles. I like Judge to reach at least two total bases in the series finale.
Bet: Aaron Judge Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115 via DraftKings)
Yuli Gurriel O/U 1.5 Total Bases
The first Lone Star Series of the season wraps up this afternoon with the Rangers trying to even up the four-game series at two games a piece. The Astros have won two straight games in the series and send Justin Verlander to the mound to try and capture their third straight win. Texas gives Martin Perez the nod in game four, which is scheduled for 2:05 ET from Globe Life Field.
Martin Perez enters today’s contest with a 0-2 record and 3.86 ERA to go along with a 1.36 WHIP over three starts. The lefty bounced back in his last outing, throwing 6.0 innings of shutout baseball against the A’s on Saturday. Perez has made two starts at Globe Life Field this season, where he owns a 6.75 ERA and he has allowed 12 hits over 8.0 innings pitched.
The 2021 A.L. Batting Champion Yuli Gurriel is off to a mediocre start in 2022, at least by his standards. The first baseman is hitting .218 to start the new season, but has been heating up at the plate recently. He has hits in five of his last seven games, including three extra base-hits. Gurriel has found success against Perez in his career, hitting seven singles in 14 at-bats against the lefty. I like Gurriel to keep swinging it well this afternoon and to record at least two total bases in the final game of the series.
Bet: Yuli Gurriel Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100 via DraftKings)
