Top MLB Betting Odds & Picks for Saturday, April 23 (2022)

Yesterday’s slate played out well for us, giving us another profitable day with our best bets. Over the weekend, some teams will end up giving star players a rest during day games. So before you bet games over the weekend, make sure to check lineups!

Other than that, let’s keep cashing!

Here are my top three bets for Saturday’s slate of games in the MLB for April 23:

CTAs

Cleveland Guardians vs New York Yankees Run Line (-1.5, +115)
I’m going for it. The Yankees will have Nestor Cortes on the mound for today’s game against the Guardians and I’m confident he’ll have another monster game.

Cortes has a 4.00 xFIP with 30.2% strikeouts and just 5.9% walks dating back to last season. As a left-handed pitcher, he’ll keep the Guardians off-balanced knowing that only Jose Ramirez and Franmil Reyes are the two consistent bats in the lineup against lefties. Other than that, you’ve got seven guys with limited power or low wOBA in the lineup against lefties dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Cal Quantrill will take the hill for the Guardians. Dating back to last year, he has an xFIP of 4.90 with 19.1% strikeouts and 7.9% walks. He’s been below average in all categories and will take on a Yankees team that has some power against righties. Sure, they haven’t shown it very much this season, but New York doesn’t need too much offense anyway with Cortes on the mound.

Bet: Yankees -1.5 (+115 at DraftKings)

San Francisco Giants vs. Washington Nationals F5 Run Line (-.5, -110)
The San Francisco will send out Alex Wood. Dating back to last season, he has a 3.66 xFIPP with 26% strikeouts and 6.8% walks. He’s been a consistent pitcher that will give you quality outings most times. Or at least he’ll give your team a chance to win.

After last night’s debacle, it’s clear that Washington isn’t on the same level as San Francisco. With Aaron Sanchez headed to the mound for Washington, San Francisco might explode again offensively.

Against righties, the Giants have a .220 ISO and .334 wOBA dating back to last season. Now they’ll take on Sanchez who has a 5.04 xFIP dating back to last season. It’s just a complete mismatch for Sanchez who will allow many balls in play and walk some batters too.

Bet: Giants -.5 F5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Baltimore Orioles vs. Los Angeles Angels Run Line (-1.5, -125)
Tonight’s largest mismatch of the slate goes to this game. It’s going to be Noah Syndergaard against Spenser Watkins of the Orioles.

Syndergaard has limited the power and limited walks in a “comeback season.” The Orioles lineup has been very bad against righties this season with only Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander doing a little bit of damage. Meanwhile, Watkins has struggled, despite having a 2.25 ERA this season.

Dating back to last year, he’s got a 5.90 xFIP with 13.7% strikeouts. Watkins gets little ground balls and allows plenty of line drives.

Furthermore, he’s been awful against righties. With Mike Trout back in the lineup, watch out.

Bet: Angels -1.5 (-125 at DraftKings)
