The NFL’s 2022 season is still 14 weeks away but betting action has already begun since the best NFL sportsbooks released the opening lines for Week 1.

Online sportsbook BetOnline recently released the early betting results and according to the said sportsbook, the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, and Baltimore Ravens are the most heavily-bet teams so far with 86%, 82%, and 80% of the total bets wagered for their respective first-round assignments, respectively.

Patriots and Dolphins Play in Week 1 This Season

The Patriots open their 2022 campaign by visiting the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. New England has opened as +2.5 point underdogs and has owned 86% of the early betting tickets issued for the game. Miami started last season with a 1-7 record but won eight out of its last nine games to finish at 9-8. The Fins missed the playoffs but they ended their season with a 33-24 win over the playoff-bound Patriots.

While new New England is the most-heavily bet underdog in Week 1, the Carolina Panthers are next with 77% of the total bets at +3.5 points in their home game against the Cleveland Browns. The Houstons Texans, who are the biggest Week 1 underdogs at +8, are next with 67% of the tickets against the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, the New York Giants at +6.5 against the Tennessee Titans have 67% of the early bets.

The Las Vegas Raiders will debut at +3.5 against the Los Angeles Chargers and they have 64% of the total bets wagered while the Jacksonville Jaguars have 60% of the betting slips at +3.5 against the Washington Commanders. On the other hand, the Detroit Lions have 59% of the bets at +4.5 for their home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers have 54% of the early tickets against the Cincinnati Bengals as +6.5 point underdogs.

Russell Wilson Returns to Seattle for Week 1 MNF Game

Russell Wilson’s transfer to the Denver Broncos was perhaps the biggest news of the offseason and now his return to Seattle in the Week 1 Monday Night Football game is perhaps the biggest game of the NFL’s opening week. Denver has opened as the -4 favorites against Seattle and currently has 78% of the total bets, the most for any Week 1 betting favorite.

Along with the Raiders-Chargers game, the Kansas City Chiefs Week 1 assignment against the Arizona Cardinals highlights the afternoon Sunday schedule of the opening week of the 2022 NFL season. Kansas City will begin the post-Tyreek Hill era as -3 point favorites against the Cardinals and will be doing so as the most-heavily bet favorite for Week 1 with 77% of the early betting tickets.

Tom Brady’s Buccaneers are next with 71% of the early bets in their Week 1 game at the Dallas Cowboys. Last season, Tampa Bay spoiled the return of Dak Prescott from injury with a come-from-behind 31-29 win. The preseason Super Bowl favorites Buffalo Bills also have 75% of the early bets against the defending champions Los Angeles Rams in a pick ‘em game.
