- Jonathan Taylor is the odds-on favorite to lead the NFL in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
- Derrick Henry is second on the odds boards in both prop betting markets but bettors are torn between the two.
- Taylor has the most bets to have the most rushing TDs while Henry has the most handle to do so. Henry leads all favorites with the most tickets to lead the league in rushing yards but Taylor has the most money to do it.
Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor is the odds-on favorite to lead the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns with the Tennessee Titans ranking second behind Taylor on both betting boards.
But according to early betting data from the said betting site, bettors are split on which of the two wins this year’s NFL rushing title.
Taylor Won the 2021 Rushing Title
— Colts on SR (@SRIndyColts) January 11, 2022
Taylor won the 2021 NFL Rushing Title by leading the league with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. Taylor finished 552 yards ahead of second-placer Nick Chubb who amassed 1,259 yards, the largest margin in the last 12 years. He also became the first Wisconsin Badger to take home the title since Alan Ameche in 1955.
But Taylor won the 2021 rushing title with Derrick Henry not playing a full season due to injury. Henry missed nine games last season due to a broken foot. He returned in the playoffs but was a mere shadow of the dominant rusher who won the title in the previous two seasons and who produced the first 2,000+ rushing yard season since Adrian Peterson in 2012 two seasons ago.
Before he suffered the injury, Henry was on pace to break multiple NFL records, including most rushing yards in a season. King Henry began his 2021 campaign with 783 rushing yards on 162 carries, putting him in line to finishing with 2,219 rushing yards on 459 carries. With Henry back at 100% to start the season, the king wants his throne back, and so now, we have a good competition.
Derrick Henry or Jonathan Taylor?
Which RB has more TDs this season? 🤔

As stated above, the reigning rushing champion is the odds-on favorite to lead the league in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. Taylor is currently listed at +550 to have the most rushing touchdowns and a +400 to have the most rushing yards this season. Meanwhile, Henry is second in both betting markets, with odds of +600 on each betting board. But while Taylor is ahead of Henry on both odds boards, he isn’t the most popular bet to lead the NFL in both statistical departments.
Taylor has the most number of bets to lead the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 14.8% of the total betting tickets written. However, Henry has the highest betting handle in that said betting market with 25.4% of the total dollars wagered. On the other hand, Henry has the most number of betting slips to lead the NFL in rushing yards with 20.6%. But it is Taylor who has more money wagered with 43.1% of the total betting handle.
Of course, these are way too early betting results and the 2022 NFL season has yet to begin. However, if the early bettors at BetMGM are correct, it looks as if we are going to have a back-and-forth race for the 2022 NFL Rushing Title. And it’s going to be an exciting one. Here’s hoping now freakin’ injury spoils it. Fingers crossed.
