According to the top UFC betting sites, Meerschart is the +170 bottom against Silva who hit the betting boards at -200 odds:

Meerschaert and Silva are booked to fight at UFC on ESPN 41 on August 13th at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. The event will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between Marlon Vera and former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Krzystof Jotko Dominates Gerald Meerschaert

Meerschaert saw his three-fight winning streak end at UFC Vegas 53 last April 30th. In that event, GM3 was dominated by Krzystof Jotko who took a unanimous decision win. Prior to that defeat, Meerschaert picked up consecutive submission wins against Bartosz Fabinksi, Makhmud Muradov, and Dustin Stolzsfu to recover from a 2-5 stretch between 2018 and 2020.

The 34-year-old from Racine, Wisconsin is a former RFA middleweight champion and Wisconsin State middleweight champion who also fought under Titan FC and King of the Cage. He joined the UFC in 2016 and opened his UFC career with a 4-1 mark. Overall, Meerschaert has a record of 34-15 with six knockouts and 26 wins via submission. He owns the UFC middleweight record with 9 victories via submission.

GM3 returns to the underdog role after being the betting favorite in each of his last two bouts. He is no stranger to winning as the bottom dog as four of Meerschaert’s last five wins have come with the plus money sign written next to his name, including as a heavy +400 betting underdog against Muradov in August 2021.

Alex Pereira Edges Bruno Silva

Like Meerschaert, Bruno Silva’s three-fight winning streak inside the Octagon ended in his most recent appearance. But the 33-year-old from Paraiba, Brazil made a good account of himself when he tested the highly-touted Alex Pereira in a hard-fought bout at UFC Vegas 50 last March 12th. Despite losing via unanimous decision, Silva had nothing to be ashamed of in that contest.

Silva was a contestant at The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 tournament where he lost in the preliminary round via knockout against Victor Miranda. After that setback, Blindado rattled off 14 wins in his next 16 bouts under Brazilian promotions like Crajubar Fights, Curitiba Fight Pro, Aspera FC, and Immortal FC. After winning the M-1 middleweight title in Russia, he was finally signed by the UFC in 2021. Overall Silva has a record of 22-7 with 19 wins via knockouts.

This marks only the second time in five UFC appearances where Silva has opened with the minus money sign written next to his name. The only other time when he opened as the betting favorite was when the Brazilian fought Jordan Wright where he opened at -350 odds and closed at -375.
