Dodgers’ World Series Odds Move Back-and-Forth As Trade Deadline Looms

Dodgers World Series MLB Odds

  • The Los Angeles Dodgers moved from +360 to +300 to win the World Series at Caesars early Monday.
  • Los Angeles went 21-5 during the month of July and moved to within one-half game of the Yankees on the odds boards.
  • The Yankees saw their World Series odds improve later during the day after acquiring starter Frankie Montes in a trade.

The 2022 World Series odds had two seismic shifts on Monday with the L.A. Dodgers and New York Yankees moving back and forth on top of the betting boards.

Los Angeles and New York are currently going toe-to-toe on top of the MLB team standings and have also gone back and forth on the betting boards since the season began. Most recently, it has been the Yankees on top of the World Series betting boards but with the Dodgers catching fire in July, Los Angeles is back on top.

Dodgers Caught Fire in July

First, it was the Dodgers who saw their World Series odds move from +360 to +300 late last night at Caesars Sportsbook. The move came after the Dodgers defeated the Rockies 7-3 on Sunday. Los Angeles caught fire last month, finishing with a 21-5 record, posting the 4th best winning percentage in July (.808) since 1900 while also tying a franchise mark for most wins in July.

The Dodgers entered the season as the odds-on favorite to win the 2022 World Series. However, the New York Yankees started the season red hot behind the sizzling bat of Aaron Judge and posted the best record in baseball. New York became the odds-on favorite or co-favorites with the Dodgers since June 25th but with the Bronx Bombers struggling as of late, the Dodgers have caught up, both at the team standings and sportsbook odds boards.

Before the result of the Dodgers’ Monday game against the San Francisco Giants, the Yankees are just one-half game up on the Dodgers for the best record in baseball at 70-34, with Los Angeles at 68-33. With New York barely over the .500 mark in the last couple of weeks, their World Series odds faltered to +350 prior to Monday’s games.

World Series Odds on the Move as Trade Market Heats Up

The second wave of World Series odds movement came later on Monday when teams began wheeling and dealing as Tuesday’s trade deadline continues to draw near. The Yankees were big players in the trade market late Monday as they acquired starter Frankie Montas from the Oakland Athletics. Shortly after the Montas deal, DraftKings Sportsbook moved the Yankees’ ALCS odds to +160 from +175 and their World Series odds from +390 to +360, putting them as co-favorites with the Dodgers.

Caesars Sportsbook has also adjusted its World Series betting board after the Montas trade. The Dodgers moved back to +360 after shortening to +300. The Yankees also moved from +350 to +360 as they are back as co-favorites with Los Angeles. Both teams are also deadlocked at +350 odds via Unibet, FOXbet, and Borgata Online. Meanwhile, PointsBet USA has put the Yankees back on top at +350 with the Dodgers at +390 following the Montas trade. BetOnline also has the Yankees at +310 and the Dodgers at +350.

On the other hand, Bet365 US still has the Dodgers on top at +350 odds while the Yankees are in the second spot at +390. BetMGM also has the Dodgers at +325 and the Yankees at +350 odds. Meanwhile, the FanDuel Sportsbook has Los Angeles as its +310 betting favorite and New York as the second favorite at +340.
