It can be recalled that Taylor rallied to beat Serrano via split decision to retain her undisputed lightweight title last weekend in arguably the greatest women’s boxing fight of all time.
Taylor opened as the -115 betting favorite to beat Serrano but as the betting money came in, the best boxing betting sites flipped the odds and Serrano entered the fight as the -140 odds on favorite. The challenger was ahead on the live odds market and even entered the final round as the -260 favorite. The judges, however, disagreed and gave the nod to the champion.

Taylor and Serrano fought in one of the most memorable boxing fight ever. The two top female boxers became the first female pair to headline a boxing event at the fabled Madison Square Garden and they not only delivered but exceeded the expectations with a true Fight of the Year contender.
Serrano started like a house on fire and badly hurt Taylor in the fifth round. However, Taylor fought back in the second half of the fight, despite being on her backfoot for most of the night. When all was said and done, the judges awarded Taylor with a split decision win, something that Serrano’s supporters did not agree with.
Immediately right after the fight, Taylor promoter Eddie Hearn and Serrano promoter Jake Paul both agreed that such a fight deserves an immediate rematch. Both parties verbally agreed that it would take place in Ireland, probably at Croke Park which has a capacity of over 80,000.
Examining the Punch Stats
Serrano had a 173-147 edge in landed punches, bolstered by a 44-14 edge in round 5. They landed within 6 punches of each other in 8 of 10 rounds. Serrano landed 36% of her power shots, Taylor 47%. landed 47%. Serrano’s 173 landed punches were most by a Taylor opp. #TaylorSerrano pic.twitter.com/zvc7DZS0CG

Looking at the punch stats, Serrano outlander Taylor 173-147 in total punches landed. However, the Puerto Rican’s punch stats advantage could be traced to the 5th round where she landed 44 punches against Taylor’s 14. Otherwise, the other rounds were close, at least as far as punch count was concerned. In fact, Taylor had more rounds where she connected on more punches than Serrano.
Taylor won the punch count in six out of the 10 rounds while both fighters landed the same amount of punches in round seven. That meant that Serrano only outboxed Taylor in three rounds, including the fifth. Taylor also closed out strong by outlanding Serrano in total punches during the final three rounds of the bout.
The champion was also the more accurate puncher as she connected on 39% of her total punches and an impressive 46% of her power punches. The challenger meanwhile only had a 27% accuracy in her total punches and 36% on her power punches. And even if the judges gave Serrano a 10-8 round in the fifth, Taylor would still have emerged victorious on the judges scorecards.
