Round 25 of the Serie A season takes place this weekend. The biggest match on the slate is Atalanta against Juventus in Bergamo on Sunday. Only two points split the teams ahead of kick-off with Juventus sitting in fourth and Atalanta in fifth.
This might not have title implications — as illustrated by our Serie A odds tracker — yet it is a pivotal match in what is fiercely competitive battle for the top four. These are the two teams in the best position right now, but don’t rule out Lazio and Roma, who are both just four points behind Atalanta heading into Matchday 25.

Odds as of Feb 12 at Barstool
Juventus have only won one of the last five competitive meetings between these sides. They are still narrowly favored for Sunday’s matchup, however, at a price of +143 on the moneyline. Goals are expected with -118 on under 2.5.
Max Allegri is unlikely to make major changes here, though Leonardo Bonucci will replace the injured Giorgio Chiellini. Manuel Locatelli is expected to line-up in midfield over Arthur, while Denis Zakaria and Adrien Rabiot should also start.
Atalanta is without Juan Musso, who was sent off for a last-man foul last time out. Duvan Zapata has been ruled out for three months, leaving Luis Muriel with the main goal scoring responsibility.

Gian Piero Gasperini has opted for a back four on occasion of late, but he’s expected to revert to a back three for this one with Matteo Pessina and Ruslan Malinovskyi in support Muriel.
These teams are heading in different directions since the league resumed. Juventus have 11 points from five matches in 2022. Atalanta have just one win in four, and this isn’t a short-term blip. They have collected only nine points from their last seven matches, which has seen them drop out of the top four.
According to Sky, Duvan Zapata could miss 3 months of action after coming off injured against Cagliari.
They said at best he might be able to play Atalanta’s last 2 league games but his season could be over.

Atalanta are far from out of it with a game in hand over Juve, but they are low on confidence right now. Gasperini saw his team lose twice at home in the space of five days to Cagliari and Fiorentina, the second of which was in the Coppa Italia. In truth, home form has been a real problem for La Dea all year long — they have been victorious in just three of their 12 league matches at Gewiss Stadium.
Juventus have been formidable on the road, too. They haven’t lost away from home in the league since October, winning four and drawing two since then. Those matches have generally been low-scoring, with under 2.5 cashing in five of six. The seven-goal classic against Roma was an anomaly.

There are, however, signs that Juventus have been riding their luck with their expected goals tallies away from home not matching up with their results so far. Of course, it’s important to acknowledge the team that will play on Sunday is very different to the one from earlier in the season too, with Zakaria and Dušan Vlahović making an immediate impact.

Back the Visitors
Atalanta have enjoyed a fair bit of success against Juventus in recent years, winning two of the last three at Gewiss Stadium. With no Zapata, though, Gasperini’s team are not the same threat for Juventus.
The Old Lady has hit their stride in recent weeks. Allegri’s teams are always well-equipped to win on the road, and this team is no different. Their defense can keep it tight, and the Vlahović-led attack can take advantage of an Atalanta backline which has conceded five goals in its last two.
🗣: “A player like Vlahovic, in terms of characteristics, was missing from this team. There’s enthusiasm, but I’ll say it again and again: we haven’t done anything. For Juve, winning games is the norm.”

We like Juventus to win to nil at +350. The moneyline is still a decent bet, though.
Pick: Juventus moneyline (+143)
